Cities you have been to, by country. Marsa adds the city you are in by itself; add others here or on a country's page.
Experiences are the things you did inside a country: a summit, a dive, a race, a city or a landmark. Each one sits on the map at its exact spot.
Each list counts the same marks its own way. The Century Club splits countries into separate destinations (Dubai, Sicily, Hawaii), so visiting Dubai counts as the United Arab Emirates on the UN list but only as Dubai on the Century Club list.
A phone compass is often 20–30° off indoors or near metal. Move the phone in a figure of eight to calibrate it, and prefer the open air. Twice a year the sun stands right over the Kaaba: on 27–28 May at 12:18 and on 15–16 July at 12:27 Makkah time, face the sun and you face the qibla.
Files stay on this phone and never leave it. The play button in the car, on headphones or on the lock screen works while Marsa is open or in the background.
Connecting…
Tap for a photo, hold for a video
One account for everything here. The modules below work without one; messages need it.
One account for chats and modules. Your data syncs between your phones and stays private to you.
Marsa is in a closed beta: someone who uses it gives you a code. Creating an account confirms you are 18 or older.
Owners and admins always get a new version first. Who else gets it before everyone:
Whoever opens Marsa at the old address brings everything on their phone over to marsa.chat, then uses the new address. The Android app asks them to install its new version.
Off: a new account needs an invite or someone's code, as before. On: anyone can sign up; at most five new accounts a day from one connection.
While this is on, every Marsad post is seen by everyone who has Marsa and is not end-to-end encrypted. Turning it off deletes the open posts and Marsad goes back to contacts only.
“Where it matters” shows them when the phone is set to Arabic or to a country where most people need them.
Places change. After this long without a check, a place is flagged and its conviction no longer counts until you confirm it.
Save a map file of your guide, then import it at google.com/mymaps. It appears in Google Maps under Saved › Maps, so your places are there when you are already in Google Maps.
A shared or printed tree uses the family's language only.
Common names are written at once. Names Marsa does not know are written by its assistant (on Cloudflare, not end-to-end encrypted, no tokens) and remembered for all your phones. Correct any of them on the person's page.
Mothers, wives, daughters and sisters are kept in your records but never shown on the tree, in lists or on cards, and are left out of any tree you send unless you choose otherwise. The eye on the Family screen hides them in one tap; showing them again takes a hold.
To anyone else a woman is there as an unnamed person, so the ties through her still stand. A tree sent to someone outside the family follows the Men only / Include the women question instead.
With this on, each relative is marked as rahim (a blood relative) and, if of the other gender, as mahram or not, with a short explanation. Turn it off to use Family simply as a family tree with reminders.
Most scholars count every blood relative, through the father or the mother; in-laws and relatives by nursing are not arham. Some count only those who are also mahram. Choose the reading you follow.
The schools differ on when nursing makes kin: the Hanafi and Maliki schools count any amount within 30 or 26 months; the Shafi'i and Hanbali schools need five full feedings within 24 months. A nursing tie that does not meet the chosen school's conditions is shown but not counted. When in doubt, scholars advise assuming the lower bar.
How often Marsa reminds you, unless you set it for one person. Days.
The ✉ on someone in رحم opens it with a short message saying you are thinking of them, which you can change before it goes. WhatsApp, text and calls use the phone number on their page.
It stays on your phones and in your own Marsa account. Nobody else can see it unless you place a contact in it and tell them.
Times are calculated on the phone with the published method of each authority. Check them against your local mosque now and then.
The Century Club counts a place even if you only changed planes there. Turn this on to count transits in every list.
The map can show what this passport needs for every country: no visa, a travel authorisation, a visa on arrival, an eVisa or a visa. It comes from Wikipedia and is kept on the phone; always check with the embassy or airline before you travel.
Checked when you open Marsa and every 30 minutes while it is open. Where you are is worked out on the phone with the built-in map and never sent anywhere.
Choose the file you exported from it and the places you marked there come across. Your dates, notes and experiences here are kept.
Everything is saved on this phone as you go. Nothing is sent anywhere. Save a backup file now and then so you can restore it or move it to another phone.
Choose a Marsa backup file. It is merged with what is here, and the newest change to each item wins.
Send the link. Your friend installs Marsa and keeps their own data on their own phone. None of yours goes with it.
Signed in? Deleting the account removes it from Marsa's server too; everyone you chat with is told.
Remove everything you saved in Marsa from this phone. Save a backup first if you might want it back.
Choose one or more. You can change this any time in Settings.
Removing a section only hides it. Your data in it stays on this phone.
